It was traditional for children of religious families to be christened three days after they were born. When William was born, England was in a time where it was mostly religious. William grew up in a small town called Stratford-Upon-Avon, and it was a little market town on the banks of the river Avon. Upon the time Shakespeare was born Stratford was surrounded by fertile fields and extensive sheep pasture. The reason being is that Stratford’s primary area of trade was wool. William looked up to his father as well. Williams father was a respected individual and was highly praised by the people. After William Shakespeare returned to Stratford in his later life he returned as a celebrated playwright, well-respected citizen, gentlemen, and landowner.
